Sports Day

Sports Day took place on Friday, May 21st thereby giving 6th Years the opportunity to work off the excesses of the previous day's pastries! We were blessed with a wonderful day, perhaps some divine intervention organised by new Chaplain, Fr. Tom Griffin!

As always, the emphasis was on participation by as many students and teachers as possible. The "Fussball" and "Bungy Run", introduced a few years ago, have become firm favourites and the jelly eating competition made a welcome return. Novelty events also included the three-legged race and the sack race. The teachers played the students in a football match and won again! Our record now stands at 22 years unbeaten (- sorry guys and girls - parents please note that the winning team was more magnanimous than this writer!).

The serious business took place on the running track with some superb performances. The top athlete of the day was Craig Commiskey (3V) who came first in the 100m, first in the 600m, first in the Junior Mixed Relay, third in the Shot Putt and second in the Junior Sack Race! Well done Craig and to all the pupils and teachers who contributed to this being such a wonderful day.
