We are all different. We are all beautiful: Diversity Prayer Service

To mark the end of Diversity Week 2017, 1st, 2nd and Transition Year students participated in a beautiful multi-faith prayer service. Prayers, reflections and scriptural readings from the major world faiths and philosophies were shared during the service. Students came together to celebrate the gift of diversity that helps make Rosmini the vibrant school community that it is today. School Chaplain, Mr Gueret, and Religion teacher, Mr Coulter, led a very inclusive and open gathering.

From Atheism to Evangelicalism: Exploring Diverse World Views

Mahatma Gandhi once said: 'Religions are different roads converging upon the same point. What does it matter that we take different roads, so long as we reach the same goal.' As part of Diversity Week 2017, students were given the opportunity to explore religious and secular world views. Nick Park, Executive Director from the Evangelical Alliance of Ireland, met with 3rd year students to discuss the beliefs and values of evangelical Christians in today's society.

Students attend Ember training

In September a group of fifth year students were selected to go to Avoca Manor. There they took part in training for a religious leadership programme called Ember. This training involved lots of team building and leadership tasks. Lorena Cimpean, Jamie Hopkins, Megan Heeney-Holmes, Eoin Maxwell, Kelly Supple, and Roisín O’Sullivan Doyle are all part of the Ember team. As part of their role they work in an ongoing basis with the First year group. The Ember team accompany and support them on their journey through first year.

Leadership Programme

The Religion Department has celebrated various events this term. In September a group of fifth years went to Avoca to train for a religious leadership programme called Ember. Cian Farry, April Doyle, Leah Carrick, Lee Shannon, Sean Lavin, Alan McLoughlin, and Mary McGovern are all part of the Ember team. We held 'opening of the year' liturgies with each year group as well as remembrance for November. We are currently busy celebrating Advent prayer services in preparation for Christmas. We will be holding various fundraising events including a film festival.
